Monday March 7th we kick off the festival at Custom Audio Video again for the third year in a row. The popularity of this event grows every year, and tickets sold out last year, so don’t wait until the last moment to decide to attend. Just like in year past, there will be a variety of wines for the attendees to enjoy before and during the intermission of the movie. There will also be a selection of heavy appetizers and desserts so that guests will enjoy a total culinary experience with the movie.
The ZING workshop will introduce you to that “eureka” moment when you realize not only how wonderful life can be when food and wines are paired, but also it is not as hard as many people believe. Trish Rogers will walk you through 6 different wines and pair them with a variety of foods (some pairings will be wonderful and some will be ghastly), but in the end she will show you not only how much better this can be, but also how easy it can be.
Does the glass really make a difference in how when enjoying your wine? Discover the impact the shape and size of a glass can have on you wine drinking experience. During this seminar, guests will try 4 different RIEDEL grape varietal specific glasses with a tasting mat to experience the difference. The center piece of the festival every year, the Grand Tasting features a large selection of high end wines. This traditional tasting is the festival’s most exclusive celebration, featuring award winning wines and an array of light hors d’oeuvres. Every year a couple hundred people go through the Grand Tasting looking for their favorite wine. For many it is a red wine, but for a surprisingly high number of people it is also a white or even something that sparkles. Last year there were just over 100 high end wines to try, many people have a problem narrowing it down to just one favorite.
Featuring the music of Lavone and Louise
This is your chance to meet Rudy Buratti, the head wine maker for Castello Banfi, who will only be in the US for about 5 days this year. This will be something quite special, a Brunello tasting featuring barrel samples, unreleased wines, current releases, older vintage, etc. And you will be tasting through and learning about these high ends wines with the man who made them. This is a tasting, with about 1.5 ounce pours, and probably around 8-10 wines. These wines would retail from $60 to the $300 per bottle range. Space is very limited as there are only a couple of bottles of each wine.
Join us for the festival’s largest event as we celebrate our 31st anniversary at the Harbour Town Yacht Basin. There will be 250+ wines from all over the world for the Public Tasting. In addition, see chefs in action at the Sysco Outdoor Gourmet Challenge, enjoy live entertainment and watch the fun and excitement of the waiter’s race. Also, do not forget to bid on award winning wines at the Silent Auction where the proceeds support the John & Valerie Curry Scholarship Fund.
