Monday March 7th we kick off the festival at Custom Audio Video again for the third year in a row. The popularity of this event grows every year, and tickets sold out last year, so don’t wait until the last moment to decide to attend. Just like in year past, there will be a variety of wines for the attendees to enjoy before and during the intermission of the movie. There will also be a selection of heavy appetizers and desserts so that guests will enjoy a total culinary experience with the movie.
The ZING workshop will introduce you to that “eureka” moment when you realize not only how wonderful life can be when food and wines are paired, but also it is not as hard as many people believe. Trish Rogers will walk you through 6 different wines and pair them with a variety of foods (some pairings will be wonderful and some will be ghastly), but in the end she will show you not only how much better this can be, but also how easy it can be.
Do you have what it takes to be a winemaker? At this event, our head judge from the International Wine Judging Event, will walk you through the classic grapes used in making a great Bordeaux/Meritage. After tasting through all the different varietals with Tom, attendees then get to try a great Meritage before then blending their own. At the end of the event all the blends will be judged, and one person will be crowned Wine Maker for a Day.
Come meet Max Vater from Alexander Valley Vineyards. We will taste through a series of their wines including……the Cyrus from AVV has won the prestigious Best in Show award three different times at the International Judging Event that is held every year before the festival.
Grab your glass as Sip and Stroll our way through the variety shops that line the famous Harbour Town Yacht Basin. You will be treated to great wines and also enjoy discounts at participating shops, all while taking in the beautiful atmosphere. From the top of the light house, to next to the water and throughout the shops, friends, fun and of course wine made this one of our most popular events last year. So grab your friends and grab a ticket as we sold out last year!
The center piece of the festival every year, the Grand Tasting features a large selection of high end wines. This traditional tasting is the festival’s most exclusive celebration, featuring award winning wines and an array of light hors d’oeuvres. Every year a couple hundred people go through the Grand Tasting looking for their favorite wine. For many it is a red wine, but for a surprisingly high number of people it is also a white or even something that sparkles. Last year there were just over 100 high end wines to try, many people have a problem narrowing it down to just one favorite.
Featuring the music of Lavone and Louise
This is your chance to meet Rudy Buratti, the head wine maker for Castello Banfi, who will only be in the US for about 5 days this year. This will be something quite special, a Brunello tasting featuring barrel samples, unreleased wines, current releases, older vintage, etc. And you will be tasting through and learning about these high ends wines with the man who made them. This is a tasting, with about 1.5 ounce pours, and probably around 8-10 wines. These wines would retail from $60 to the $300 per bottle range. Space is very limited as there are only a couple of bottles of each wine.
This is your chance to meet Luciano Castiello: Luciano has worked for the last 15 years traveling to every corner of the US and all over the world speaking and educating people on the wines made at Castello Banfi. A master of languages, he speaks six fluently, and particularly loves to share his knowledge via song. He is known for finishing events with his substantial operatic talent. While listening, enjoy Chef Hugo Lee’s culinary artistry pairings. $150 per person The Banfi Wine Dinner is the only dinner who’s proceeds will benefit the John and Valerie Curry Educational Scholarship Fund.
Join us for the festival’s largest event as we celebrate our 31st anniversary at the Harbour Town Yacht Basin. There will be 250+ wines from all over the world for the Public Tasting. In addition, see chefs in action at the Sysco Outdoor Gourmet Challenge, enjoy live entertainment and watch the fun and excitement of the waiter’s race. Also, do not forget to bid on award winning wines at the Silent Auction where the proceeds support the John & Valerie Curry Scholarship Fund.
